Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows - Book Review

Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows - Book Review

“A lively, sexy, and thought-provoking East-meets-West story about community, friendship, and women’s lives at all ages“ - Amazon Description

Getting through this book was a journey. I read it over the course of 2 weeks. Approximately 9 days, 2 commutes a day 90 mins each. That’s a long time for one book. I will say, I finished the last third of the book in 2 days because once the story starts moving it doesn’t stop.

The story itself is smart & fun, but it challenged me to be open minded about some of the patriarchal norms of different societies. A lot of talk around arranged marriages and women cooking & cleaning for men constantly, was tough. I found myself screaming throw that food at him! Make him do the dishes.

There was also discussings of a “bride” being 10yrs old and marrying a 40 yr old man, along with talk of a brotherhood that trolled the women’s actions. Sections like that had me stopping the book and scrolling Instagram for a mental refresh. It wasn’t described in graphic detail but you understood what was happening and that’s not exactly the mind state i like to be in before work.

Overall the book was cute, fun and thought provoking. Would I recommend? Yes. On a vacay though, where you can pick up, put down & hop in the pool when it gets too heavy.
